Gator Recipes

Trying your hand at alligator? Gator is technically considered seafood by the Florida Department of Agriculture, but there are many wonderful ways to prepare it. Consider these recipes featuring gator meat and add some extra flair to your next dinner menu.

Grilled Gator Kabobs


½ cup Florida orange juice concentrate    
¼ cup Florida orange juice    
2 tablespoons light soy sauce    
2 tablespoons brown sugar    
1 teaspoon cumin    
¼ teaspoon cayenne    
1 pound Florida alligator meat, cut into cubes    
1-inch cubes assorted Florida vegetables or fruit, cubed    


Gator-Tater Salad

2 pounds Florida alligator meat
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup Florida pecans, chopped
3/4 teaspoon Florida garlic, minced
2 cups Florida potatoes, skin on, chopped, boiled
1 cup Caesar salad dressing
1 cup Florida red bell pepper, chopped
3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/2 cup Florida celery, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
